Product Care

Edelectic Crafts wooden items are all made with natural wood so need a little TLC to keep them feeling soft and healthy.

Wooden pieces are often first treated with organic tung oil to really bring out the grain and then finished with our own natural blend of wood care balm for added protection. The best way to take care of your tool is either to give a thin recoating with any natural oil that polymerises (e.g tung, linseed, walnut) or use our wood care balm (linseed oil and beeswax).

Using Oil - Use a paper towel to thinly spread a very small amount of oil covering the whole piece. After a few minutes, remove excess oil with a dry paper towel.

Using Balm - Use your fingers to spread a thin layer of balm across the whole piece.

Allow your item to cure. The time it takes to cure has many factors; which oil or balm it is, the ambient temperature, humidity etc. When cured your tool will be dry to the touch.

For a silky smooth finish after recoating, polish using baking paper.

It is recommended to do this process a minimum of about once a year or if your wooden item feels very dry. As the years of you looking after and using your wooden item go by the moisture in the wood will stabilise and the care needed will reduce.

Please do not leave your product out in direct sunlight or in high temperatures (like next to a fire or by a radiator) as this drastically affects the moisture level of the wood and could lead to cracks or splits. If you have no choice, make sure you treat your item regularly.
